Job Title:                            Director of Technology

 

Salary Grade:                     Administrator

 

Reports To:                        Superintendent

 

Job Goals:              To provide leadership and coordination in the use of technology, including support services to educational operations.  To influence and implement the District Technology Plan.  To plan and implement comprehensive staff training programs in conjunction with various professional development committees of the District. To develop and implement policies and procedures that will encourage and assist in integrating appropriate technology use by staff and students.  To provide support for the operation of the district computers, networks, website and email system both for technology instruction and operations.  To maintain network security and other confidential systems that involve technology.

 

 

Qualifications:

·         Certified Teacher

W   Work towards Type 75, or holds Type 75

·         Experience in technology training

·         Educational background in technology

·         Knowledge of WANs, LAN5 and other systems/network hardware and software

·         Such additional or alternative qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

 

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Strategic IT vision – ability to provide IT strategy/vision, including the ability to define, operationalize and refresh this vision/strategy on a periodic basis, in alignment with District goals/objectives and with Board and administration approval
  • Budgeting – proven capabilities in translating technology needs into prioritized plans and budgetary requirements
  • Executive Communication – ability to communicate effectively with administrators and Board members regarding technology concepts, plans, operations, and requirements
  • Prioritization and portfolio management – proven capability of balancing strategic vision, operational requirements, and technology-education alignment into an overall implementation plan
  • Project management – demonstrated project management skills ranging from minor technology upgrades to major shifts in technology approach
  • People management skills – proven experience coordinating a broad mix of IT staff

·         Ability to use independent judgment to solve problems creatively without set instructions

·         Keeps current with changes in technology through various means: courses, seminars, trade show attendance, trade journals and through colleagues and associates in the industry 

·         Ability to perform as a team member as well as a technical authority depending on the situation

·         Ability to read, comprehend and use technical manuals pertaining to both operations software, systems software and hardware

·         Ability to constantly assess systems, hardware and software needs and continuously offer suggestions for improvement

·         Ability to measure quality of work being performed as well as the effectiveness and efficiency of the technological organization and develop short-term as well as long-term staffing solutions

·         Excellent interpersonal skills

·         Logical and efficient

·         Keen attention to detail

·         Effective oral and written communication skills

·         Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions

·         Ability to understand and adhere to District policies and procedures

·         Of good moral character and possessing temperate, ethical, and industrious habits
