Responsibilities:

The Early Childhood Education Community Liaison is responsible for the recruitment of families and children, particularly underrepresented families, into the BVSD preschool program.   The Community Liaison will, in collaboration with ECE and building level staff, assist in the identification, development and coordination of parent engagement and collaboration activities.   Assist with the recruitment and enrollment of families with young preschool age children, include home visits.   Assist with parent engagement, education and collaboration activities and events, including coordination of events, inviting and encouraging attendance, accessing resources to support events, and hosting events.  Assist families in accessing community resources such as CHIP+, library, transportation services, recreational opportunities and social services.  Assist in coordination of parent teacher conferences and health/developmental screenings by contacting parents to schedule, making reminder phone calls of appointments.  Attend and support parent/ teacher conferences by translating when necessary, sharing available resources specific to family and community needs and providing follow up to identified needs.  Support effective, family friendly transitions into preschool and kindergarten.  Assist in preschool classroom as needed.

 

Qualifications

Required:

-Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work or related field required

-Must have appropriate training, academic, technological and experiential background for the position (be able to obtain or currently hold Department of Human Services Group Leader Qualifications within 6 months of employment)

-Bilingual/Biliterate English and Spanish (must pass BVSD assessment)

-Completed and submitted BVSD on-line application

 

Preferred:

-Have an understanding and appreciation for diversity and ability to relate to diverse group of parents

-Demonstrate a commitment to community and parent partnerships

-Ability to communicate and listen effectively in person and on the phone including excellent written and verbal communications skills

-Must have valid Colorado Driver's license and utilize own vehicle to drive as needed

-Previous experience in early childhood education

-Must be willing to work flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends

-Ability to work as a member of a classroom, building and department team and form collaborative partnership

-Knowledge, experience and comfort in engaging all families in a variety of activities participating in activities, including recruitment, enrollment, home visits, parent conferences, volunteering
