Major Responsibilities:
Performs complex professional work assisting the Activities Director with planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating K-12 activities and events, managing program development, overseeing facility and equipment use and care, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Activities Director. Continuous supervision is exercised over all personnel within the department.
Special Requirements:
· Minnesota Teaching License.
· Experience working in a multi cultural setting and with diverse groups of people preferred.
· Alternatives to the qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable will also be considered.
· Valid driver's license in the State of Minnesota

Essential Functions
Assigns, directs, trains, coaches and reviews staff work; develops staff schedules.
Attends and supervises K-12 activities and events as necessary.
Determines participation eligibility for students using Minnesota State High School League, District #13 and North Suburban Conference policies and procedures.
Communicates with parents, community groups, schools, local media and the City of Columbia Heights.
Creates, communicates and publicizes facility use and competition schedules.
Represents the district before various groups, committees, task forces and professional organizations at the local, metro, regional and state level.
Meets with area boosters regularly.
Compiles and publicizes competition schedules for all sports activities and some competitive academic activities.
Assists with overseeing the Athletic and Fine Arts facilities.
Orders equipment and supplies for activities.
Attends work regularly and arrives on time.
Assumes other duties as assigned by the Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of Minnesota State High School League, North Suburban Conference and District #13 polices and procedures; thorough knowledge of annual activity registration and eligibility forms for each participant; thorough knowledge of compiling participation numbers for activities; thorough knowledge of bi-annual, state-mandated student interest surveys; thorough knowledge of standard office equipment; thorough knowledge of scoreboards; thorough knowledge of R-School Today Activity Scheduler; general knowledge of National Federation policies for each sport offered; general knowledge of student feedback forms; general knowledge of standard office software; general knowledge of and skill in the use of P.A., timing, light and alarm systems; ability to make mathematical computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to operate a ten passenger van; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with associates, parents, students and community members.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and moderate experience coaching children, managing athletic or co-curricular events, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and exposure to bodily fluids; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
