QUALIFICATIONS :

 

1.        Illinois type 75 administration certification.

2.        Secondary certification and highly qualified in one or more areas in division, multiple endorsements preferred.

3.        Minimum five successful years of teaching experience at the secondary level.

4.        Demonstrated ability to work with and lead adults.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

1.        Leads the division staff in the assessment of the educational needs of students, the design of programs, interventions and strategies to meet such needs and the assessment of the effectiveness of such programs.

2.        Assists the administration in the selection and assignment of all division members.

3.        Observes, evaluates, mentors and coaches all teachers and support staff within the division, each division member shall be observed a minimum of once per month.

4.        Assists the administration in the development of the Master Schedule. Coordinates with counselors and other divisions in matters related to student scheduling and student learning.

5.        Prepares a professional development plan for the division and provides accountability and supervision during professional development events; evaluates effectiveness of professional development programs and events.

6.        Leads professional learning communities and workshops for teachers and support staff within the division.

7.        Inventories and organizes textbooks, equipment and supplies

8.        Facilitates textbook selection and new course proposal process for division courses.

9.        Prepares and monitors division budgets.

10.     Ensures that the division is in compliance with state standards, rules and regulations

11.     Assists administration in student assessment program, analyzes results, and makes instructional and curricular modifications based on results.

12.     In conjunction with administration, develops department and individual teacher goals that are aligned with overall school improvement goals.

13.     Collects and uses student and school data to guide instruction and programming within the division.

14.     Provides curriculum leadership for alignment to Common Core standards, for designing course sequence flow of content in the division, and for ensuring that all division members understand and adhere to the approved curriculum.

15.     Facilitates division meetings and disseminate information to all division members.

16.     Promptly addresses inappropriate faculty and staff behavior and ineffective teaching within division; takes a proactive approach to preventing and solving division issues and challenges.

17.     Continues own professional growth and awareness of best practices and current research.
