REQUIRED CERTIFICATION :

  • Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate and Highly Qualified in elementary education (K-5 All Subjects or K-8 All Subjects), as defined by the Michigan Dept of Education and the NCLB Act.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

·        Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues for planning instruction and interventions with a desire to improve student achievement.

·        Literacy Training.

·        Ability to use assessments to make instructional decisions.

·        Ability to use alternative/authentic assessments.

·        A strong history of professional growth efforts (experienced teacher) or an expressed philosophy that demonstrates the necessity for a professional teacher to grow and learn throughout a career (beginning teacher).

·        Willingness to be involved in school improvement initiatives.

·        Participation in district and building professional development opportunities.

·        Ability of use information technology to enhance learning and personal and professional productivity.

·        Experience in elementary teaching

·        Experience using assessment, data to develop interventions

·        Working knowledge of Response to Intervention.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :

1.     Implement intervention strategies/programs for struggling learners.

          Participate in training as directed by building and district administration.

          Monitor progress of students utilizing district adopted progress monitoring, universal screening, and diagnostic assessment with targeted students.

2.     Maintain a record of interventions for each student assigned.

3.     Participate in Student Study Team meetings and problem-solving team meetings.

4.     Work with classroom teacher and other support staff to determine caseload and interventions.

5.     Collect and use data to determine appropriate interventions.

6.     Communicate student progress to classroom teacher on a regular basis.

7.     Provide individualized and small-group instruction.

8.     Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly,   productive learning environment.

9.     Participate in professional development opportunities at the building and district level.

10. Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.

11. Work collaboratively with the building administrator.

12. Maintain all necessary records to comply with state and/or federal funding requirements.
