Description: This long term substitute Speech Language Clinician will work at Park Terrace Elementary from the beginning of the 12-13 academic year until approximately the end of Sept to provide speech therapy to students identified as disabled and in need of this service to benefit from the general education curriculum. This position participates in a uniquely collaborative environment where the clinicians across the district work in a professional learning community (PLC) to improve programming for students through embedded professional development. Much autonomy is given to clinicians to determine the best way to work to accelerate student learning.
The Speech Language Clinician in District 16 works to provide therapy to students diagnosed as qualifying for special education service and needing therapy to benefit from general education programming. The 3:1 program model allows for the entire spectrum of service models to be considered when establishing the building's program model. The clinician will use a variety of models from a push-in inclusive program model to a transdisciplinary model, to a pull-out service model to provide world class therapy for our students. Knowledge and experience with evaluation procedures and knowledge of the Minnesota Department of Education due process procedures is a must.
Qualifications: Licensed as Speech Language Pathologist by the Minnesota Department of Education. Having clinical competencies or the ability to acquire these is a benefit.
