ENGLEWOOD SCHOOLS POSITION TITLE: Network/System Administrator (Exempt position) EFFECTIVE: June 1, 2012 230 days/year 8 hours/day POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports student achievement by administering, maintaining and repairing district servers, directories, security, applications, backup systems, and infrastructure equipment. Provide expertise in server and directory administration, security and storage systems, customer service and new technologies. Provide consultative technical service and support for all design and operational issues related to district network servers. Evaluate, recommend, install and support district-wide directory services. Ensure servers are operational. Work on server maintenance as needed; this may require off-hours. Develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, monitor and maintain district servers. Responsible for data integrity and security for servers. Administer, maintain, monitor, test, upgrade and audit network security system. Coordinate and provide technical leadership and training to Computer Specialists/Technicians. Maintain, monitor, and schedule server backups. Perform restores. Maintain and test disaster recovery plan. Support and maintain district Active Directory infrastructure and group policy. Recommend and establish server hardware, software and security standards. Analyze and evaluate new networking solutions for incorporation into district-wide standards. Assist and instruct Computer Specialists regarding server maintenance and problem solving. Oversee project management for server and directory services migration and upgrade. Perform district email administrator duties including spam protection, email filtering, end user use of email, install and maintain email servers. Develop and maintain training materials, handbooks, system documentation and templates as needed. Establish stakeholder rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems. Actively participate in meetings, in-service, and other required training. Apply and implement knowledge, skills and new understandings. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with the coordination of district-level projects. Administer network directory, server hardware, operating systems, applications, server backups and restores. Trains others as needed or required. BUDGET AND/OR RESOURCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Prioritize and schedule work tasks independently. Create and implement effective and efficient process management strategies (e.g., procedures, equipment, materials and supplies). Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Three (3) to five (5) years job related experience. Demonstrated server installation and maintenance experience. English fluency will be determined through the interview process. LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: Microsoft Certified System Engineer (Current) or MCSA with considerable experience. Valid Colorado Driver's License. GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: Is flexible. Microsoft IIS. TCP/IP understanding. Microcomputer knowledge. Working knowledge of Windows 2003/2008 Server. Knowledge of networking and routing protocols. Has the ability to work off-hours as needed/required. Has demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Has the ability to work with stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and abilities. Has the ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers. Has the ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions. Has the ability to perform responsibilities without the necessity of close supervision. Has the ability to effectively communicate with the School District community. Has the ability to analyze, instruct, negotiate, coordinate, communicate, problem solve and use interpersonal skills. Has the ability to compare, compute, synthesize and evaluate. Has the ability to meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain a generally positive attitude. Observe all District policies and procedures. Adhere to federal and state legislation, regulation, and policies. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 20 (twenty) pounds. Occasional lifting of up to seventy-five (75) pounds. Frequent to constant sitting, standing, or walking. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and reaching. Vision; specifically close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Mostly clean and comfortable. Occasional exposure to adverse weather. Occasional risk of electrical shock. REPORTS TO: Director of ITS or designee. LOCATION: Roscoe Davidson Administration Building. SALARY: $50,000 - $63,500 per year, dependent upon qualifications.
