Job Description for Dean of Specialized Services

Vision:

The Dean of Specialized Services plays an integral role on the leadership ta of Perspectives Leadership Academy. S/he leads the collaborative effort to build and sustain a meaningful and rigorous educational experience within the parameters of Federal Law, for our students with disabilities (SWD's). The Dean of Specialized Services is the case manager for all SWD's and is also responsible for the professional development and coaching of Learning Behavior Specialists (LBS) on the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans as well as behavioral interventions for SWD's. S/he also collaborates with the Discipline Team to ensure assessment and implementation of effective discipline systems that include the procedural protections afforded SWD's by the IDEA.

Job Requirements

·         Type 10 certificate

·         At least 2 years experience working with a variety of SWD's in a classroom setting and a track record of positively impacting student achievement

·         Ability to invest others in a vision for Specialized Services

·         Ability to multi-task

·         Ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders

·         Highly organized

·         Ability to write Individual Education Plans and measurable goals and benchmarks

Data for which Dean is responsible:

·         Percent of IEP's that meet or exceed PLA expectations on IEP rubric

·         Percent of parents attend IEP meetings.

·         Percent of SWD's engage in post-secondary training, education or job placement

·         Percent  of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP's) successfully implemented

·         Percent of observed meetings meet or exceed rubric

·         Percent of SWD's receiving a C or better in classes.
