Description:
Formulates a plan to increase parent involvement
Coordinates a series of parent education activities and programs in an attempt to have an understanding of adolescent
Assists in the procurement and recruitment of community resources; i.e. local businesses, corporations, and organizations
Establishes a community center within the school to be utilized by the parents, students and community
Assists in the recruitment and training of volunteers and adopters
Serve as a resource for school related organizations, including Parent Teacher Association Community Advisory Committee, Positive Parents, etc.
Provides technical assistance to district staff to achieve a broader understanding of the student community
Works with appropriate community agencies to alleviate problems adversely affecting student attendance and learning
Assists student and parent groups and conduct home visits
Informs parents and students through a variety of forums including face-to-face and community meeting, and school tours
Exposes students to and inform parents of community activities, i.e., cultural events, the arts, political issues, etc.
Produces and disseminates materials and information pertaining to the school program to its various publics
Establishes student mentor programs with community and business volunteers
Such other tasks and duties as determined by the assigned principal
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; and three years documented school and/or community based experience and/or training
Three years documented school and/or community based experience and/or training
Demonstrated skills and knowledge of methods and procedures for effectively involving home, school, and community in meeting the educational needs of children and youth· Demonstrated organizational and marketing skills
Demonstrated knowledge of business and community guidelines
Demonstrated ability to communicate to meet the communications diversity of the community and district staff members and the public at large
