POSITION: Safety and Support Team Cafeteria Monitor
Part-time position - 3 hours/day Monday through Friday
SCHEDULE:
Flex Schedule:
10:30am - 1:30pm Monday through Friday
11:00am - 2:00pm Some Wednesdays
Wednesday schedule will be worked on other days of the week when school assemblies are held.
Work hours will change slightly on other days when regular school schedule is altered. Employee will be notified in advance of work schedule.
WAGES:
Security Salary Schedule - $19.38 per hour for new hire in 2012-13 school year
Appropriate Rate per Collective Bargaining Agreement or step commensurate with accumulated service step for current members
TERMS:
10 months (school term only)

JOB SUMMARY:
Primary responsibility will be to supervise students in and around both school cafeterias and on the mall. Additionally, employee may be asked to substitute in other areas as needed. This includes the supervision of students in the school building and around the perimeter of the school in concert with other Safety and Support Team personnel under the direction of supervisor(s). All work efforts are to ensure the safety of students, personnel, visitors and property, as well as maintenance of the OPRFHS Code of Conduct and other applicable rules.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervise cafeterias, school and perimeter of school in concert with other Safety and Support personnel as assigned.
2. Promote and maintain consistency among all Safety and Support personnel in approaching individuals and in referring students
to Deans for school rule infractions.
3. Respond to requests for assistance when ever on duty.
4. Investigate all student misconduct and complaints made against non-students.
5. Refer all concerns and findings to the Coordinator of Safety and Support.
6. Prepare written incident reports or other reports as necessary.
7. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL/VISUAL ACTIVITIES:
Walking, running, standing, climbing stairs quickly, sitting, lifting, carrying reaching, talking, hearing, visual acuity: near and far.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Good physical condition; able to run, stand for long hours and run up stairs quickly in responding to calls for assistance. Must be strong enough to physically restrain a student if necessary. After job is offered, candidate must have physician's certification to physical ability to perform rigors of position before appointment receives final approval.
QUALIFICATIONS - TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
Experience with adolescents required; human services work experience desirable. Must also demonstrate the following:
a.) Ability to maintain composure in volatile situations;
b.) Ability to reduce the level or intensity of a difficult or dangerous situation;
c.) Mastery of interpersonal skills in communicating with students, faculty/staff, parents, community members and law-enforcement/fire/medical personnel;
d.) Ability to maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with supervisor(s), deans, administrators and any other contacts associated with the position.
e.) Must be at least 21 years old.
f.) Must be able to meet the physical demands of job as listed above.
