Language Liaison
In an effort to provide
direct, immediate services to non-English speaking parents, students and
community members the Language Liaison will be responsible for providing oral
interpretation and written translation in language identified.
Location: Lincoln
Center
Responsibilities:
(1) Meet, place and respond to calls from parents and other non-English
speaking individuals; (2) Assist office workers with the processing of
registration and parental permission forms for the enrollment of non-English
speaking students and/or parents and guardians; (3) Communicate effectively orally
and in writing in language identified; (4) Participate in IEP reviews, 504
meetings, English Language Learner conferences based upon the language needs of
the student and parents/guardians; (5) Provide written translation of IEP
forms, Section 504 plan, school letters, individual parent communication, and
other documents as identified by the school and district; (6) Respond to
inquiries or concerns in a timely manner; (7) Demonstrate initiative for
recognizing and resolving issues, concerns, or problems; (8) Use appropriate
interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups toward task
accomplishment; (9) Assist school personnel in their efforts to make referrals
to community agencies; (10) Assist school personnel in obtaining specific information;
(11) Assist in implementing collaborative activities with district/school
staff; (12) Attends school, district or community meetings as needed to provide
interpretation services; (13) Assists with end of year English Language
Learners program language assessment conferences; (14) Provide interpretation
and translation in regards to student discipline conferences, including hearing
and appeals; (15) Disseminates pertinent information to appropriate parties;
(16) Provide language assistance to students in academic and social settings;
(17) Potential to serve on committees, councils, and/or task forces; (18)
Represent the District to outside shareholders in a professional and supportive
manner; (19) Complete required reports and maintain all required records; (20)
Keep a record of appointments, mileage and home visits as assigned; (21)
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: (1) Meet Illinois and federal NCLB paraprofessional
approval; (2) Must pass District 60 Bilingual Skills and Proficiency Test; (3)
Ability to conduct oral and written communication in Spanish; (4) Personal
transportation; (5) Ability to pass the paraprofessional basic skills test
administered in the Human Resources Office, 1201 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan, IL
60085
Salary: $12.14 per hour
Additional Information: 8 hours
per day/40 hours per week
