POSITION:  Sign Language Interpreter/Tutor – High School (support one hearing impaired student)

 

SALARY RANGE:  Per Classified Salary Schedule plus School District Comprehensive Benefits Package.  Nine-month position with approximately 175-day work schedule per year (remainder of the school calendar with daily schedule of approximately 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on school days).  Salary

range is $18.09-21.72 per hour depending on education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

  • Minimum of a two year associates degree or the equivalent of two years of college required.
  • Proficient  in American Sign Language.
  • Experience working in school setting preferred.
  • Experience working with special needs hearing impaired students preferred.
  • Ability to supervise students on the school grounds, in classrooms, in lunchrooms and hallways as assigned by the administration or designee.
  • Able, under the direction of licensed staff, to tutor student, reinforce learning and supervise students working independently and in groups.
  • Able to serve as a team player; perform clerical work, assist with communications between home and school and respond to minor emergencies and perform first aid as necessary as necessary.
  • Such alternatives to the above duties as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

·         Assignment start date is flexible; prefer as soon as possible.

·         9-month position with 7.5 hour days (175 days following school calendar and daily school schedule); prorated for the remainder of the school year; position contingent upon student enrollment and attendance.

·         Direct deposit of payroll is a condition of employment.

·         All contracts/agreements for employment of personnel shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Education.

·         No smoking is allowed in any Weld County School District Re 8 buildings.

·         Selected applicant must comply with the District's Drug-Free Workplace policy.

·         As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), the selected applicant must verify, within 72 hours of employment, his/her legal right to be employed in the United States.
