Responsibilities
·
Development and oversight of all assessment criteria
related to reading and writing instruction, basic
skills placement, and gifted and talented
decisions.
·
Development, oversight, and implementation of all
formative and summative assessments in reading and
writing K-5.
·
Assists in the development of an articulated elementary
school curriculum.
·
Models
best teaching practices through direct instruction with
students.
·
Analyze
and disseminate
data results of all local and state benchmark testing
K-5
·
Assists in planning goals and objectives, curriculum
units, and individual lessons, for
elementary school practices.
·
Assists elementary school teachers with classroom
organization and management.
·
Provides professional development activities based on
mandates and teacher needs, utilizing local, state,
and/or national resources.
·
Observes and provides feedback on classroom practices
and acts as a liaison with teachers between schools and
with central office administration and personnel.
·
Communicates through the development of newsletters,
bulletins, manuals, and handbooks.
·
Encourages teaching utilizing developmentally
appropriate practices.
·
Assists with professional development for elementary
school teachers.
·
Secures resources by assisting with and/or coordinating
grant writing for elementary school education, or by
securing funds from other sources.
·
Secures and interprets research and data relative to
elementary school education.
·
Assists in the recruitment, interview, selection and
placement of elementary school teachers and
paraprofessionals.
·
Assists in the development of policies and procedures
to assure budgetary and fiscal accountability.
·
Assists in planning and implementing
policies in regard to textbooks, and other
instructional materials, pupil progression policies,
and other instructional matters.
·
Acts as a liaison with the State
Department of Education to monitor activities
affecting elementary school education.
·
Displays professional growth through
active involvement and leadership in local, state,
and national professional organizations relative to
elementary school education.
·
Assist
parent groups, and collaborate with business, industry,
universities, civic organizations and the
community.
·
Works
to further family/parental involvement.
·
Supervises and assists staff in the preparation of
various statistical and other reports to meet system,
state, and federal requirements.
·
Must work cooperatively with all the
other Supervisors.
·
Other
duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
