Responsibilities
·
Coordinate the Science and Technology
curricula activities and foster a creative and
supportive environment for curriculum development,
innovation, and professional growth
·
Assist in the operation, supervision,
and evaluation of all faculty and other staff, as
assigned.
·
Oversee and coordinate the meeting and
curriculum development activities of all K-12 Science
and Technology initiatives.
·
Assist in the coordination and
direction of the Science and Technology curricula and
instructional program for the district, including
conferring with all administrators, directors,
supervisors, and specialists within all areas of
Science and Technology curriculum and
instruction.
·
Serve as a consultant to principals
and teachers on all phases of the Science and
Technology instructional program with a focus on
coordinating the educational program among all
schools within the District.
·
Provide professional development
training for District personnel within his/her
area(s) of expertise as part of the District's annual
professional development program.
·
Keep abreast of new developments in
Science and Technology Education curricula and
evaluation through readings, conferences, and other
means of gathering training and knowledge and
disseminate information to members of the
administrative and instructional staffs on a regular
basis including conducting staff development seminars
and lessons for the benefit of District
employees.
·
Write, implement, and evaluate grants
and special projects to include the development of
such projects that are possible through state or
federal legislation, local or cooperative
partnerships, and/or grants.
·
Develop and oversee all assessment
criteria related to Science and Technology Education
instruction, BSI and G & T placement, Honors, and
advanced placement course selection.
·
Development, oversight, and implementation of all
formative and summative assessments in Science and
Technology Education K-12.
·
Assists in the development of an articulated K-12
curriculum.
·
Models
best teaching practices through direct instruction with
students.
·
Analyze and disseminate data results of all local and
state benchmark testing K-12
·
Assists in planning goals and objectives, curriculum
units, and individual lessons, for Middle and high
school practices.
·
Assists teachers with classroom organization and
management.
·
Provides professional development activities based on
mandates and teacher needs, utilizing local, state,
and/or national resources.
·
Observes and provides feedback on classroom practices
and acts as a liaison with teachers between schools and
with central office administration and personnel.
·
Communicates with staff through the development of
newsletters, bulletins, manuals, and handbooks.
·
Encourages teaching utilizing developmentally
appropriate practices.
·
Assists with professional development for teachers.
·
Assists in the recruitment, interview, selection and
placement teachers and paraprofessionals.
·
Assists in the development of policies and procedures
to assure budgetary and fiscal accountability.
·
Assists in planning and implementing policies in regard
to textbooks, and other instructional materials, pupil
progression policies, and other instructional
matters.
·
Acts
as a liaison with the State Department of Education to
monitor activities affecting middle and high school
education.
·
Displays professional growth through active involvement
and leadership in local, state, and national
professional organizations relative to public school
education.
·
Assist
parent groups, and collaborate with business, industry,
universities, civic organizations and the
community.
·
Works
to further family/parental involvement.
·
Supervises and assists staff in the preparation of
various statistical and other reports to meet system,
state, and federal requirements.
·
Must work cooperatively with all the
other Supervisors.
·
Other
duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
