Social Studies Department Chair (.4 FTE) - Grayslake North High School is seeking a Social Studies Department Chair for the 2012-2013 school year. District 127 is located in Grayslake, Illinois. The district serves approximately 3000 students in grades 9-12 in two high schools with more than 300 certified and educational support staff members. Grayslake North High School has an enrollment of about 1600 students. Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the Social Studies Department Chair is instructional leadership of the Social Studies Department. The Department Chair coordinates, at the building level, the development of curriculum for the department, participates in the supervision and evaluation of certified personnel and works with staff to improve student achievement. The Social Studies Department Chair will teach three periods of the school day. The Department Chair reports directly to the Building Principal and is a member of the Building Leadership Team. Qualifications: • Hold or qualify for an Illinois Type 75 Certificate • Successful experience as a Social Studies Teacher in a high school setting • Demonstrated leadership ability • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication • Demonstrated excellence as an educational leader with strong organizational, problem-solving and human relations skills Salary and Benefits: A regionally competitive salary with excellent employment benefits based on the qualifications and employment history of the candidate.
