Position Title: Math Teacher 7<sup>th</sup> Grade – Math Summer Boot Camp
Department: Middle School

Summary of Duties:
To help students learn mathematics
content through the use of hands on activities and an online learning
environment provided by Carnegie Learning’s Cognitive Tutor software. To help
students develop study skills that will contribute to their development as
mature, able and responsible men and women who live in a global society.
Education and/or
Experience: Bachelor’s Degree;
Masters Preferred; Highly Qualified in Mathematics; Teaching experience
preferred
Certificates,
Licenses, Registrations: Valid Secondary Teaching Certificate with a Math
(EX) Endorsement
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities Include:
1.
Teaches District approved program/curriculum
2.
Differentiate instruction and accommodates for
the needs of all learners
3.
Plans a course of study that meets the
individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
4.
Creates a classroom environment that is
conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
5.
Sets clear classroom expectations for academics
and behavior
6.
Guides the learning process toward the
achievement of curricular goals; establishes clear purpose and expectations for
all lessons, units, projects and communicates the expectations to students
7.
Assesses and evaluates students’ academic
achievement on a weekly basis and promotes students as they accomplish their
learning goals; keeps accurate records of student achievement; prepares reports
of progress for students and parents
8.
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the
locations and at the time designated
9.
Is available to students and parents for
education-related purposes
10.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Summer
School Coordinator
Supervisory
Responsibilities: Supervises classroom and students
Communication Skills:
Read, analyze and interpret materials including assessment materials. Write
with clarity. Effectively present or facilitate information and respond to
questions from groups.
Reasoning Ability:
Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
in situations and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written,
oral, diagram, or schedule forms.
Other Skills and
Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to
instructional program; ability to plan and implement differentiated lessons
based on school expectations and the needs and abilities of students to whom
assigned. Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with students,
peers, and parents.
PROGRAM DATES: June 20th – July 26th 2012
(Classes will not run July 4<sup>th</sup> and 5<sup>th</sup>)

Compensation: $30.00 per hour (60 Hours)
If new to this program the candidate must attend 1 day of professional
development on the Cognitive Tutor software on May 14<sup>th</sup>, 2012 from
8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
