Director of Special
Services
Salary:
As per the Administrative
Index based on training level and prior experience.
Position is for a 214 day per year contract.
Qualifications:
Ohio Administrative Credential required. Experience in
special services preferred
Essential Functions:
1. Coordinate
the organization and operation of the District's special
education programs in conjunction with administrators, school
psychologists, teachers, speech and hearing pathlogists, school
nurses and health services, preschool with disabilities,
Medicaid Program and special education transportation.
2. Participate
and assist in the recruitment and evaluation of special
services personnel.
3. Schedule
times for federal, state, and local Board of Education required
testing, I.E.P. completion, annual review and placement
meetings.
4. Coordinate
and supervise local, county, state, and federal assistance and
grant programs, i.e., district testing, special education
units, secure and distribute necessary test forms, and so
forth.
5. Provide
counsel and assistance to teachers in testing and writing
I.E.P.s
6. Assist
in the preparation of budgets pertaining to special education
activities.
7. Maintain
participation at county, state, regional, and national levels,
keeping abreast of new developments and furnishing leadership
in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the
district's special education programs.
8.
Maintain a management system for all special education
students.
9. Prepare
required special education reports.
10. Maintain
communication and adequate records necessary in reporting to
the Superintendent.
11. Assist in
special education curriculum development and selection of
materials designed to foster healthy student academic and
emotional development.
12. Provide
counsel and assistance to teachers toward the solution of
instructional problems and in locating and securing various
types of educational materials to ensure coordination of
special services with those of regular and special education
programs.
13. Work with
teachers of special education and regular classroom teachers in
the mainstreaming of
Students with disabilities.
14. Complete the
evaluations of all professional personnel as assigned.
15. Serve as
liaison between school district, cooperative districts, and the
ODE's Department of Special Education; including monitoring
compliance of special education programs.
16. Complete all
tasks and responsibilities associated with the IDEA-B Grant,
child count, preschool with disabilities, special education
reimbursement forms, excess billing, special education tuition
agreements and Medicaid billing/cost reporting.
17. Supervise
and coordinate district-wide screening programs; preschool and
kindergarten hearing and vision screening.
18. Administer
the Central Registration program and oversee all aspects of
district-wide registration and enrollment.
19. Verify and
approve SF-14 payments.
20. Oversee
FERPA standards.
21 Serve
as the 504 compliance officer for student programming by
establishing and monitoring procedures.
22. Demonstrate
the ability to organize tasks to completion.
23. Identify,
analyze and solve problems.
24. Seek to improve
personal and organizational performance by measuring and
monitoring outcomes.
25. Be open to change
and willing to be involved in the change process.
26. Complete other
duties as assigned.
