Posting end date: 5/25/12 Mounds View School District #621 is seeking to hire an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow to work with youth at Highview Middle School in New Brighton, MN. Primary duties include:
Primary duties will include:
- Plan, organize and coordinate programs before, during and after school with the goal that at least thirty 6<SUP>th</SUP>-8<SUP>th</SUP> grade youth will experience academic gains.
2. Identify and organize meaningful civic engagement activities with the youth, including
community service, service learning, and leadership experiences.
3. Recruit and support community volunteers, including family members of students to work with
youth participants in areas such as mentoring, tutoring, civic engagement and college/career
exploration.
4. Serve 1725 hours from August 15, 2012 – August 14, 2013.
Requirements: · Must be 21 years or older.
· Minimum of an AA or AS degree, Bachelors degree preferred.
· U.S. citizen or U.S. National or have status as a Lawful Permanent Resident Alien.
· Ability to successfully pass a background check before being officially enrolled by the Minnesota
Alliance with Youth.

General information Highview Middle School is one of three middle schools in the Mounds View School District. Our enrollment is about 750 students, grades 6-8. Students of color make up 28% of our student population. Forty-percent of students are eligible for free and/or reduced lunch. The program you will be leading is the Service + Tutoring Equal Pride (STEP) program. Requirements

throughout school year) · Build relationships with students, staff, and parents at Highview Middle School - Co-supervise 6<SUP>th</SUP>, 7<SUP>th</SUP>, & 8<SUP>th</SUP> grade lunches - Maintain continuous contact with parents - Attend teacher workshop week activities and other school functions (TBD) · Initiate and maintain contact with parents of students in cohort · Attend monthly school community partnership (SCP) meetings and work collaboratively with
Promise Fellows working at NYFS and Edgewood Middle School · Monitor cohort students’ performance/progress throughout the year · Work with colleges to schedule campus visits for cohort
Participate in required AmeriCorps and other relevant professional development activities
