Title:                                        COMPUTER & NETWORK TECHNICIAN

Qualifications (but not limited to):

Employee must have two years of college credit in course work related to computer technical and network support.   Employee must be knowledgeable, professional and must be able to positively take direction as well as initiate when necessary.  Specifically, the employee should be familiar with:  computer systems, network systems, network routers & switches, telecommunications, network and workstation security and virus protection.  Employee should possess effective communications both in written and oral form as well as time management skills.  Employee should have the ability to lift 50 pounds and to travel to all school sites during the workday.

Primary Purpose:

This position serves as the primary contact and support for all users related to hardware, installation, peripherals, wiring, and provides for the proper functioning of systems for networks, servers, and the website.

 

Major Responsibilities & Duties:

Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, deploys and repairs district computer systems, software, and peripherals.

Manage WAN, computer file servers, email server, security servers, and all virtualized servers across the district.

Maintain established wireless access points, network directory services, linkage to other systems, network equipment, and internet connectivity.

Provides for the analysis, diagnosis and resolution of computer-related hardware and software problems for all users and recommends and implements corrective solutions.

Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all district computer systems, software, and related peripherals.

Accurately documents all computer component failure, repair, installation, and removal.

Design, acquire, install, maintain, repair, administer, and troubleshoot all computer equipment, software, servers, switches, routers, bandwidths, firewalls, internet filtering/antivirus, voice over IP, email accounts, and related technologies which support the curriculum.

Assist with making sure proper licensing agreements are secured on an annual basis including e-rate and with the cleaning of technology equipment.

Assists in the development of long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future I.T. needs.

Perform other tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Terms of Employment:   260 days/year - 12 months/year - Salary Commensurate with Experience
