Job Description Summary:
The elementary school guidance and counseling program assists
students in becoming responsible citizens. Continuous
attention is given to assisting students to develop competence in
decision making, working with others, and taking responsibility
for their own behavior in accordance with district policies and
procedures. The school counselor will possess good people
skills, flexibility, the ability to work under pressure, stay on
task, be responsible, reliable, a self-starter, and have the
ability to adjust to change.
Essential Functions Include:
1-Facilitate our school Student Intervention Team (SIT)
2-Coordinate parent nights
3-Participate in our building Family and Community
Together Cadre (FACT)
4-Demonstrate accurate and appropriate interpretation of
assessment data and the presentation of relevant, unbiased
information
5-Teach guidance units to kindergarten-fourth grade classrooms
on a weekly basis
6-Implement an effective referral process in collaboration
with parents, administrators, teachers, and other school
personnel
7-Provide a comprehensive and balanced guidance program in
collaboration with school staff
8-Assist students in determining their abilities, interests,
assessment results, and goals in order to encourage student
educational and career planning
9-Perform other duties as assigned at the request of the
superintendent or principal
