JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:                          Special Education Teacher - Mathematics 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:        A valid Type 10 Certificate/Special Certificate or

                                    Type 09 Secondary Teaching Certificate
                                    Learning Behavior Specialist I endorsement

                                    Mathematics endorsement

                                    

REPORTS TO:              Administrative staff of Special Education, Assistant Principal

 

SUPERVISES:              Assigned Students
                                    Student Teachers

                                    Teacher Aides

 

 JOB GOAL:                 To create an optimal learning environment that focuses on a variety of

individual educational needs; to inspire, motivate and stimulate students to master course content and develop skills to the utmost of their learning capabilities.

 


RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Participate in and contribute to staffings for each student.
  2. Help to design the Individual Education Plan for each student.
  3. Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to to each student's emotional and developmental skills, one in which each student can develop a sense of worth and dignity.
  4. Implement the short tem objectives as stated on the Individual Education Plan, by providing appropriate materials and techniques.
  5. Conduct ongoing assessments of individual student's progress.
  6. Maintain accurate records on each student.
  7. Update the Individual Education Plan, methods and instructional materials, as necessary.
  8. Communicate pertinent information about students to other staff members.
  9. Seek assistance from appropriate personnel as may be necessary for specific situations.
  10. Maintain contact with student's home as needed.
  11. Requisition instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.
  12. Participate in faculty, division, departmental, and in-service meetings.
  13. Observe the professional day by being to work and class on time.
  14. Be sensitive to the physical and learning disabilities of students and take appropriate measures to assist these students.
  15. Implement all district policies.
  16. Serves as a role model for students in leadership, scholarship, character development, and acceptance of responsibility.
  17. Recognizes the value of co-curricular activities and demonstrates a willingness to assume sponsorship of activities when needed.
  18. Perform other job-related duties as directed by the adminnistration.

 

 TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:         Ten (10) months
