The 2012 Summer School Program will begin at each site on June 18 and will continue until July 19.  Students will be in attendance for 3 hours daily.  Teachers will work 3 hours daily Monday through Thursday.  There will be no school on Fridays or on July 4th.  

Teacher professional development will be conducted June 12, 13, and 14.  Attendance is mandatory at all professional development sessions.

Responsibilities:  (1) Provide a minimum of 90 hours of instruction to students following a prescribed comprehensive literacy curriculum and professional development strategies presented; (2) Plan and submit daily lesson plans weekly to the site coordinator using the provided template and selected materials; (3) Monitor and record student progress; (4) Attend meetings scheduled by the site coordinator and all professional development sessions; (5) Prepare the assigned classroom to encourage engaged cooperative small group learning-Word walls and learning centers must be evident; (6) Participate in all program evaluations including administration of individual reading inventories; (7) Develop and follow a daily schedule; (8) Conduct a parent orientation at the beginning of summer school; (9) Attend one additional extended day or evening parent meeting; (10) Sustain effects of professional development by the use of strategies presented and comprehensive literacy approaches during the regular school year.

Qualifications: Type 04 with a Bilingual Endorsement

Stipend:  Teachers will be paid $35 per hour.  Federal and State withholdings will be taken from the amount earned.  Absences or tardiness will result in a decreased amount as indicated in this job description.

Additional Information:  Failure to fulfill these duties and responsibilities may result in dismissal from the program.  No more that two days can be missed without jeopardizing dismissal and termination of the contract unless extenuating circumstances prevail.  A penalty of $150 per day of instruction will be deducted from the agreement for any school day missed and $200 for each four hour day of professional development.  An hourly rate of $35 per hour will be deducted for each hour or partial hour missed.  This includes time before and after the start and end of the school day and all professional development sessions.  In the event that a minimum class size is not maintained, the teacher is subject to release from their contract.  The teacher will be paid for each day of service prior to the day of release.
