POSITION: Basketball Coach - America's Choice School at S.A.N.D.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Within the framework of the entire athletic program, provides ongoing development and improvement of coaching student-athletes through coordination, planning, evaluation and implementation of programs. In addition, help each student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to establish written rules and regulations.
Ability to enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
Ability to coach individual participants in skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
Ability to plan and schedule with the Supervisor of Athletics regular program of practice in season.
Ability to work closely with Supervisor in scheduling interscholastic contests
Ability to recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate.
Ability to maintain and complete necessary attendance forms, insurance records, accident reports and similar paperwork.
Ability to oversee safety conditions of the facility or areas in which assigned sport event is conducted.
Ability to provide for orderly distribution and collection of all athletic equipment.
Sub varsity positions report to varsity coach and align program to the varsity procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field . (Teachers on staff)
Three years successful experience in the identified coaching area.
Successful experience in working with staff, students and parents in an urban setting.
Excellent leadership skills.
Knowledge of Hartford Schools' Coaching handbook and regulations regarding coaching.
Experience and knowledge with NASPE; National Standards for Athletic Coaches, and CIAC regulations.
Current Coaching Permit issued by the State Department of Education and Valid First Aid, CPR Certification, Mod 15, and Coaching Certification by state.
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Extra Pay for Extra Duty
