Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Pre-K-12
We are currently seeking applications for a dynamic,
knowledgeable, innovative, collaborative and experienced leader
with proven skills to serve as the Principal for the Academy of
Engineering and Green Technology. The Academy was developed
in partnership with the business and community and enjoys ongoing
support from a business-led Advisory Board.
The Principal will continue to take the Academy to a higher
standard of academic excellence where students are preparing for
highly competitive engineering, technology and/or environmental
science college programs and careers. The principal must
therefore posses an understanding of and a commitment to the
integration of technology into the curriculum and its use in the
classroom in order to facilitate student achievement.
The leader of Hartford Public High School Academy of Engineering
and Green Technology must be committed and dedicated to the
highest expectations for students, staff and all members of the
school community. The position requires an individual with an
outstanding reputation as a site-based educational leader who
fosters an environment where the school community is governed
through a democratic process where the students, parents, staff
and community leaders all have a voice in the decision-making
process. The ideal Principal should be an analytical thinker, an
effective communicator, a confident, courageous, fair and
effective supervisor, a passionate educational leader, a creative
problem solver, a skilled recruiter and a visionary.
CT Certification in Intermediate Administration (092)
Ability to integrate Engineering and Technologies into core
5 years appropriate teaching experience
Ability to administer discipline in a firm, fair, effective
and consistent manner
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with students,
staff, parents and community members in a multi-cultural
Successful school administrator experience
Degree in Science Technology Engineering, or Math (STEM)
Demonstrated experience as an instructional leader.
Demonstrated experience and success at a high school level in
an urban setting.
Demonstrated strengths in leadership, sound interpersonal and
Demonstrated experience in programs and strategies for
students who receive Special Education and English Lanuage
Ability to work cooperatively with parents/community toward a
Knowledge of financial management.
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary in accordance with Hartford Principals' and Supervisors'
Association Group 4-6 ($119,132 - $140,099). 2012-2013
