JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Communications and Public Relations, the incumbent is responsible for the coordination of a comprehensive, systematic communication process for families and the general public, with the goal of stimulating a better understanding of the role, objectives, accomplishments and needs of the school district, Board of Trustees and Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
*Generate accurate, timely and consistent information about school policies, programs, achievements, decisions and critical issues to public and key stakeholders, especially families. Examples of work product include letters, key messages, FAQs, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, fliers and other design collateral.
*Ensure that employees are well-informed, in a timely manner, regarding district objectives, events, and decisions around matters affecting their working conditions.
*Create, organize and execute communication plans/strategies on key district initiatives, with a specific focus on reaching parents and families as the main audience.
*Generate timely communication to employees and external stakeholders to accurately convey the District’s message, correcting inaccuracies advanced by media.
*Assist in the development of topic-specific messages for senior leadership.
*Stay informed about current district issues relevant to internal and external publics.
*Organize and build capacity for a network of internal key communicators to act as ambassadors for district objectives and accomplishments.
*Work with District and Campus Leadership to capture and capitalize on recognition opportunities.
*Develop methods of evaluating the effectiveness of communication to inform changes for improvement.
*Bring additional skill capacity to the Public Relations and Multicultural Outreach Department in areas such as social media, article/story development, web development, publications management, graphic design and photography to ensure a diverse skill set and cross-training capacity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or Journalism from an accredited college or university required.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience in external communications, executive communication or public relations is required.

*Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

DUTY DAYS: 260 Days
SALARY: CP04: $48,665 - $60,832
Salary determination will be based on documented experience.
