QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree or higher with coursework in educational administration.
2. Administrative Type 75 certificate required.
3. Minimum of 5 years or more successful teaching experience.
4. Minimum of 4 years or more successful administrative experience preferred
which would include the supervision of certified and classified personnel.
5. Experience as an elementary school principal preferred.
6. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and administrative colleagues to support
student achievement initiatives with proven results.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with school improvement processes.
8. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, administrative personnel and
the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The improvement of instruction (primary responsibility), with a majority of time
devoted to matters of curriculum and staff development.
2. Programs classes within established guidelines to meet student needs.
3. Preparation of student schedules.
4. Establishes guidelines for proper school conduct and the maintenance of
student discipline.
5. Supervises the school's teaching process.
6. Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of all school activities.
7. Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school.
8. Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and
individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives
and programs; to interpret Board policies and administrative directives;
and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.
9. Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development,
as appropriate.
10. Coordinates and supervises such support services as maintenance, security,
food services, recreational programs, financial and accounting functions,
media center activities, etc.
11. Implements and supervises the school's special education programs.
12. Assumes leadership in the direction and supervision of the school's
extracurricular activities.
13. Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual
and group performance.
14. Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists and all other paper
work required or appropriate to the school's administration.
15. Participates fully in principals' meetings, curriculum meetings and such other
meetings that impact the building.
16. Prepares and submits the school's budgetary requests, and monitors
expenditures of funds.
17. Maintains and controls the various local funds generated by student activities.
18. Cooperates with high school, college and university officials regarding teacher
training and preparation.
19. Works with various members of the central administrative staff on school problems
of more than in-school import, such as transportation and special services.
20. Conducts staff meetings to keep members informed of policy changes,
new programs, and curriculum initiatives.
21. Keeps the superintendent informed of school activities and concerns.
22. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending
professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications
and discussing problems of mutual interest with colleagues in the field.
23. Works with various parent groups.
24. Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the
superintendent may assign.
