REQUIREMENTS:
1.
Educational Level: BA Degree with ESL endorsement or working
toward endorsement.
2.
Previous experience working with children in an educational
environment.
3.
Leadership Skills: Effective communicator and strong human
relation skills.
Experience in working with minority youth, parents, staff, and
students preferred.in working with minority youth, parents,
staff, and students preferred.
4.
Mobility: Must have a car to move throughout the District
and the physical ability to access students
and
teachers in both accessible and non-handicapped
accessible buildings.
5.
Office practice skills required including computer awareness
and
internet.
REPORTS
TO: Director of Migrant
Education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.
Coordinates the services of paraeducators and recruits and
coordinates parent volunteers.
2.
Works with translators/interpreters, recruiters, parent
liaison, migrant coordinator.
3.
Attends staff development in and out of State activities
4.
Plans in-service activities and creates awareness of in-service
opportunities for affected staff.
5.
Provides individual teaming information on the achievement
levels of students.
6.
Serves as an advocate for ELL students at staffing conferences,
administrators, nurses, teachers, parents, etc.
7.
Helps to coordinate various community services for ELL students
and families such as library, medical services, DSS, church
groups, law enforcement agencies, Central Community College,
etc.
8.
Assesses needs and recommends program changes to the
Director.
9.
Carries out other assignments as prescribed by the Director of
Migrant Education.
10.
Provides direct ESL instruction/tutorial services to
students.
11.
Administers and scores language assessments.
FREQUENT:
1.
Plans instructional objectives and activities consistent with
language arts curriculum guides.
2.
Directs and supervises learning activities between paraeducator
and students.
3.
Implements the disciplinary procedures of the district.
4.
Selects materials suitable to the educational
objectives.
5.
Provide one-to-one consultation to teachers in the strategies
to help ELL
students.
6.
Arrange staffings with parents, teachers and principal for
students needing ESL program.
7.
Write 504 plans as needed.
8.
Teacher and facilitator of ESL classes.
OCCASIONAL: 1.
Attend
S.A.T. for ELL students as needed.
2.
Administers scores and interprets language assessment.
3.
Attend Parent Advisory Committee (P.A.C.) for Migrant
Education.
4.
Actively serves on multicultural task force.
5.
Assumes responsibility periodically for conferences with
parents at home or at school.
6.
Undergoes periodic evaluations according to State and Board
policy and procedures.
7.
Serves as liaison between parents, teachers, administrators and
students.
8.
Provide one-to-one consultation to teachers in the strategies
to help ELL students.
