•Serve as a consultant and/or provider of direct services as an ECSE teacher to implement IEPs for
birth to five-year-old children with disabilities in a variety of settings, including the classroom,the child's home, and, when appropriate, other settings that provide services to children (i.e. childcare, inclusive early childhood programs, etc.)
•Serve as an equal member of a teaching team in an inclusive program (3 or 4-year-old ECSE andNorris Public School preschool)
•Serve as a member of the district's IEP team and assist with assessment, program planning/IEPdevelopment, and placement offerings for service delivery for birth to 5-year old children withdisabilities.
•Take a lead role in the district's Child Find/screening activities and coordinate these efforts withthe Norris Early Childhood and ESU Services coordination program.
•Act as a member of a interdisciplinary team when designing/delivering services to young childrenwith disabilities
•Promote parent involvement in the ECSE program and services
•Participate in community early childhood meetings and discussions regarding school-basedservices for young children
•Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social,and emotional development of students with an emphasis on language development and emergentliteracy skill
•Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive behavior management techniquesthrough daily contact with children and early childhood staff in the classroom
•Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributinginformation on a continuous basis
•Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child’s family and encouragestheir involvement in the program
•Continue professional development through attending workshops, conferences and other staffdevelopment
•Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
•Willing to provide services for students with disabilities on a year round schedule.
Qualifications: Must possess an Early Childhood and Special Education Endorsement.
