                                                                    Academic school year plus five days per diem prior to the academic

                                                                    school year and after the academic school year as specified by contract

QUALIFICATIONS:                               

 

                                                                    Must possess state certification in school counseling, Type 73 Certification

                                                                    and Approval

DUTIES :                                                  

                                                                   

  1. Devote a majority of their time to data collection, identification, individual and/or group counseling and interviewing of at-risk freshmen students, present to classes on developmental needs of students as prescribed by the developmental counseling model.
  2. Assist at-risk freshmen students in assessing and understanding their abilities, interests, and educational needs.
  3. Work with and assist teachers in the following ways:  gaining a better understanding of standardized test results and other appraisal data; analyzing the educational potential and achievement of individual students; and improvement of student adjustment problems.
  4. Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with parents and help them understand their children, the school, and the counseling and guidance programs.
  5. Be responsible for disseminating current information to at-risk freshmen students concerning careers, vocations, colleges, and financial aide when appropriate.
