POSITION TITLE:                       ESY Summer School K-12 Principal

                                                                                                                                               

EMPLOYMENT PERIOD:            June 25 -  July 26, 2012

                                   

POSITION LOCATION:              Logan Elementary School

                                                           

SALARY:                                    $ 61.39/hour

                                                                                                           

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:   Assistant Superintendent for Student Intervention and  Support Services



QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Possess a Masters Degree from an accredited institution

Must hold a valid school administrator certificate or be enrolled in a program leading to certification as a school administrator not later than six months after beginning employment as required by Michigan Department of Education.

Demonstrate successful special education teaching experience

Experience with curriculum development, instructional improvement and student assessment

Experience working with a diverse community

Experience in providing leadership to school improvement teams in planning and implementing school improvement efforts

Experience working with students with special needs

           

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preparatory work with ESY staff

Develop communication materials for parents, district staff/administrators and Summer School employees (April and May)

Coordination of student enrollment processes and respond to parent inquiries

Coordinate hiring of staff, develop class lists, compile pre & post achievement data

Establish and coordinate professional development sequence prior to actual Summer School program and participate in parent orientation (tentatively) June 20 & 21, 2012.

Coordinate 2-hour Parent Workshop during the Summer School period

Manage all budgetary & accounting responsibilities and maintain a budget spreadsheet and monitor expenditures

Order all necessary supplies

Close out all Summer School purchase orders and personnel action forms at the conclusion of the program

Coordinate all aspects of transportation, including bus routing

Coordinate facility readiness and use

Supervise and evaluate Summer School staff with input from SISS administrator and coordinators

Monitor attendance, budget expenditures, program implementation and required developmental activities

Supervise lead-teacher if position available

Assign staff to appropriate teaching stations

Monitor student behavior consistent with Rights and Responsibilities guidelines for elementary students

Other duties as assigned

The position requires the individual to  meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
