VACANCY: DARIEN HIGH SCHOOL – ENGLISH DEPARTMENT COORDINATOR/ENGLISH TEACHER
EFFECTIVE: August 22, 2012
QUALIFICATIONS: Five (5) years minimum teaching experience; Connecticut Department Chair (#105) or Intermediate Administrator (#092) Certification
JOB GOAL OF
COORDINATOR: Provide leadership to the English Department in the areas of curriculum, community relations, teacher practice and professional learning
RESPONSIBILITIES OF DEPARTMENT COORDINATOR:
Work with building administration on furthering Darien High School’s Learning Expectations for students through the work of the department
Help to manage the ongoing Professional Learning Community (PLC) work of the department
Meet with teachers to interpret and help implement the district's curriculum and assist in monitoring the balance, equity, consistency, and standards of departmental assignments
Assist department teachers in the handling of day-to-day problems of instruction and act as a resource person for department teachers on curriculum questions
Select, order, and inventory instructional supplies, equipment, and books
Assist in proposed and on-going curriculum development projects and their implementation and evaluation
Meet with other Department Coordinators to plan among other instructional areas, critical thinking, interdisciplinary programs, and reading and writing across the curriculum
Perform all other related duties as assigned
TERM: Teachers must reapply for Department Coordinator positions on a yearly basis
COMPENSATION: Salary and Departmernt Coordinator Stipend per Darien Education Association Contract
