Q Comp Combined Coach/Observer Position Description
Position Title: Teacher Coach/Observer
Description: The Q-comp coach/observer will provide peer observation and feedback to teachers/licensed non-classroom teachers based on the recommended/selected teaching standards.
Our Q-comp coach/observer model for 2012-2013 will be centralized. In this model, most coach/observers will have this as their primary job and not have a teaching assignment. This centralized model will allow coach/observers to learn during the day, share best practices across the system, and continue to provide high quality coaching/observing to our staff members.
Job Duties: The coach/observer has a responsibility to assist the teachers/staff members whom he/she supports to become proficient in their standards.
Training: Required: Complete 7-8 days of Cognitive Coaching; 2 days of summer training in preparation for the year; and meetings during the school year. Coach/Observers are paid for these required training days outside of the typical duty day.
Qualifications:
*Have a background of professional development experience and 7 or more years teaching experience with 5 years or more experience in Eden Prairie preferred
*Requires a one to three year commitment
*Have experience and training in a wide range of instructional and student management strategies
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Uses reflective thinking in own practice
*Proficient in culturally relevant teaching pedagogy and practices
*Understand how to develop relationships with staff members
Salary: Commensurate with Eden Prairie Association Contract
Q-Comp Coordinator – Alternative Compensation
Position Title: Q-Comp Coordinator
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
*Provides leadership for the Q-Comp program.
*Participates in the hiring of Q-Comp Coach/Observers.
*Conducts observations of Q-Comp Coach/Observer for the Q-Comp program.
*Chairs the Q-Comp Steering Committee and Q-Comp Appeals Committee.
*Works with Minnesota Department of Education on issues pertinent to Q-Comp.
*Coordinates the training of the Q-Comp Coach/Observers with Educational Services.
*Participates in the coordination and development of staff development opportunities for Q-Comp.
*Provides updates on Q-Comp to the School Board and District administrators.
*Coordinates the Q-Comp recordkeeping systems.
*Assists with the scheduling of Q-Comp Coach/Observers.
*Maintains appropriate background and training in cognitive coaching and data coaching.
*Ensures Q-Comp policies and procedures are maintained.
*Works with Q-Comp Coach/Observers to maintain inter-rater reliability.
*Leads regular meetings of the Q-Comp Coach/Observers.
*Keeps current on research into the best practices/coaching practices as necessary.
*Designs, implements and monitors the district Q-comp budget.
Required Qualifications:
*Minnesota teaching licensure
*Minimum five years of experience in education
*Immediate experience working in Eden Prairie Schools strongly preferred
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Experience and training in a wide range of instructional and student management strategies preferred
Teacher Ratio:
*One part-time release position for the entire district
