QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's Degree from an
acceptable college or university.
2. Valid Colorado Teaching
Certificate/License with necessary endorsement as required by the
Colorado Department of Education.
3. Ability to assess
students to determine eligibility for special education
programs.
4. Ability to develop and
implement appropriate special education programs based on needs
of students.
5. Participate in special
education staffings.
6. Maintain appropriate
record keeping for students.
7. Provide in-service
training to teachers and parents when appropriate.
8. Skills collaborating
with others regarding student's programs/progress.
9. Computer skills
desirable.
10 Cooperative Learning
desirable.
11. Must be Highly Qualified in this
area.
12. Such alternatives to the above
qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and
acceptable.
OTHER PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
1. Demonstrated experience
in instruction and integrating curriculum.
2. Demonstrated ability and
willingness to provide leadership and participate in the
governance of the school.
3. Demonstrated ability and
willingness to teach social skills to all students.
4. Demonstrated ability and
willingness to help in the professional needs of the staff as the
need arises.
5. Demonstrated ability and
willingness to help build and develop a collaborative, collegial
working environment.
6. Bilingual or ESL
background preferred.
7. Knowledge of or
background in: balanced, literacy, multi-sensory
principles, differentiated instruction, looping at primary or
intermediate level, hands -on teaching techniques in all
curricular areas, incorporation of technology into classroom
instruction, curriculum integration, collaborative teaching,
constructivist instructional model, multiple intelligence theory
and brain-based learning theory.
8. A variety of
professional development experiences.
