Position Title: School Psychologist or School Social Worker, Long Term Substitute
Assignment: Related Services
Expected Dates: 2012-2013 School Year
Provides direct and indirect psychological/behavioral services to students. Provides individual and group counseling, behavioral observation, intervention strategies, consultation, and in-service presentations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identifies and assesses the learning, development and mental health needs of individuals and groups, as well as, environmental factors that affect learning. Gathers and interprets assessment data and develops integrated evaluation summary reports.
- Identifies needs and provides direct services to students in assigned schools.
- Provides consultation to teachers, parents, administrators, and other school personnel to plan strategies to assist with behavior and learning difficulties to improve achievement and school engagement. Consults with instructors and parents to design Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and services to support the learning environment for increased educational benefit.
- Reviews records and other information obtained from outside agencies including medical, and translate diagnostic and treatment information into educational and behavioral terms for school district teachers and other professionals.
- Collaborates with social workers, behavioral and instructional personnel to assess and develop Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), Proactive Behavior Management Plans (PBMP), and document emergency and restrictive procedures to meet students’ needs and best practices. Serves on the assessment team to identify disability (emotional/behavioral) of students.
- Maintains student records and data for Third Party Reporting (TPR) and (CTSS), as well as due process, according to MN law, IDEA, and school district policies and procedures.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis. Share pertinent information with parents and staff. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with students, parents and staff. Collaborates to provide training and professional development for department programs and assists with research as deemed appropriate.
- Complies with due process requirements. Participates in professional organizations and continually seeks to improve professional knowledge and skill. Applies ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Master's Degree and licensed or able to obtain a license from the MN Department of Education as a School Psychologist or School Social Worker.
