Description:
District 62 seeks an instructional leader for Orchard Place Elementary School in Des
Plaines, IL. This is a full-time administrative position beginning on
or before August 1, 2012.
Job Summary:
The three key roles that District 62 principals should fulfill are:
-Instructional leadership that focuses on strengthening teaching and learning, professional development, data-driven decision-making and accountability;
-Community leadership manifested in a big-picture awareness of the school's role in society; shared leadership among educators, community partners and residents; close relations with parents and others; and advocacy for school capacity building and resources; and
-Visionary leadership that demonstrates energy, commitment, entrepreneurial spirit, values and conviction that all children will learn at high levels, as well as inspiring others with this vision, both inside and outside the school building.
Qualifications:
-Must hold an Illinois Type 75 administrative certificate and have administrative experience
-Bilingual Spanish (Required)
-At least five years of experience in teaching and or administration / supervision, some at the elementary school level or equivalent experience
-Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate comprehensive PreK-5 school instructional programs
-Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, community, and the public
-Can demonstrate knowledge of principles, practices, materials, and equipment used in current Pre K-5 school education and an ability to apply them to the needs of the school
-Ability to plan, supervise, and evaluate the work of instructional and support personnel
-Knowledge of current curriculum and instructional best practices and trends
-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
-Understands the needs of a diverse learning community
Working Conditions:
District
62 has approximately 4,800 students in grades preK-8 in 8 elementary
schools, 2 middle schools and 1 year-round, K-8 school.

Selection Procedure:
