Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard ~ Summer Only

$8.00/hour with less than 3 years Water Safety Instructor experience OR

$10.00/hour with 3 or more years swim lesson instructor experience

Position starts June 18, 2012

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : 

Current certification in the following American Red Cross programs:

                         -  WSI

                         -  Lifeguard

                         -  CPR for the Professional Rescuer

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS : 

Personal attributes that include love of children, flexibility, and sense of humor.

Ability to provide/facilitate purposeful interactions with children and parents.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure the safety of all persons in the locker room, balcony, and the pool area through preventive lifeguarding.
• Monitor pool chemistry and pool conditions.
• Respond to pool area emergencies and follow Emergency Action Plan.
• Uphold the philosophy and mission of the Holt Aquatics Facility.
• Follow the American Red Cross guidelines for instructing class in the water safety course.
• Available for parents at every class for questions and/or concerns.
• Keep accurate and up to date records.
• Prepare and distribute student progress reports.
• Serve the Holt community members - be alert to members' questions and concerns.
• Keep swimming area and pool deck free of clutter and tripping hazards.
• Ensure that all equipment is properly stores and maintained.
• Enforce all pool rules and health regulations.
• Implement opening/closing procedures.
