INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE (Kindergarten) - Striving Reader Grant
FUNCTION
Performs moderately difficult work in assisting teachers or
other certificated personnel in planning and providing individual and group
instruction to students; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior
and performance; perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION
RECEIVED
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Site
Administrator. The Site Administrator
shall at least annually evaluate the Instructional Aide’s performance.

ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
Supervise and monitor students assigned in the classroom and
outdoors including during inclement weather.
Ensure safety of students under supervision.
Effectively manage students under supervision including the
enforcement of school rules and district
policies.
Assist students with work and lessons, including those
requiring remedial, or learning disability effort.
Assist classroom teachers by providing individual and group
instruction to students, including the preparation and presentation of lessons.
Assist in the supervision and guidance of students in a
variety of academic or non-academic settings including one-on-one or tutorial
activities.
Assist with clerical duties related to the classroom
environment such as photocopying, stocking and inventory of materials,
laminating, etc.
Collect and organize program data; prepare data for required
reports; maintain records and files.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORK CONTACTS
Frequent contact with certificated personnel, students,
staff, and other school personnel.
CONDITIONS OF WORK
Light to moderate physical activity in a normal
office/classroom and school site environment.
Position requires driving to and from various school sites and may be in
adverse weather conditions.
REQUIRED
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Some knowledge of:
the educational environment;
basic teaching strategies; appropriate resources and materials;
application of secondary curriculum (English, math, science, social
studies); correct English usage,
grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; and record keeping techniques. The ability to perform the following work

ACCEPTABLE
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Some experience in the supervision of youth and providing
instruction to individuals or groups, preferably in an educational setting;
high school graduation or equivalent, and; 48 semester hours from an
accredited college; or, an
associate’s degree; or, proof of successfully passing the Para-professional
PRAXIS exam developed by Educational Testing Services.
SPECIAL
REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada Driver’s License.
