Hinoki International School (HIS) is
seeking candidates for an English Grade 2 homeroom teacher
position (½ time) with Special Needs Program
coordination responsibilities (½ time). HIS uses
a two-way immersion environment to promote Japanese and
English development and, eventually, have students develop
bilingual fluency and competency in both
cultures.
This position would be a co-teaching position
with a Japanese Grade 2 teacher, and would be full
time.
Half of the time would be teaching the
students in elementary subject areas (English language, Math,
Science, Art, etc) and the other half would be to administer
and support the school's special needs programs (coordinate
IEPs, maintain contact with special needs student support
staff, etc).
The Special Needs Program
coordinator also must coordinate with other teachers to
ensure consistency and connect content between both
languages. In addition, the teacher will be expected to
fulfill a variety of tasks to help make our small learning
community work effectively for all students in the
school. A successful candidate will show evidence of
flexibility, creativity, and ability to work with all other
staff in the school.
Evidence of 2 years or more of successful
