Hinoki International School (HIS) is
seeking candidates for an English Kindergarten homeroom
teacher position (½ time) with Parent Liason
responsibilities (½ time). HIS uses a two-way
immersion environment to promote Japanese and English
development and, eventually, have students develop
bilingual fluency and competency in both
cultures.
This position would be a co-teaching
position with a Japanese kindergarten teacher, and would be
full time.
Half of the time would be teaching the
students in elementary subject areas (English language,
Math, Science, Art, etc) and the other half would be to
develop and administer our Parent Liason program at the
school for both Japanese and American families (Japanese
speaking ability is very helpful, but we will work to find
Japanese-speaking liaisons and translators for the right
candidate).
The Parent Liaison will help develop
materials with the curriculum coordinators to support
Family involvement and supplemental education activities at
home, as well as help create opportunities for both
Japanese and American families to interact outside of
school. In addition, the teacher will be expected to
fulfill a variety of tasks to help make our small learning
community work effectively for all students in the
school. A successful candidate will show evidence of
flexibility, creativity, and ability to work with all other
staff in the school.
Evidence of 2 years or more of successful
teaching experience is expected.
