Job Summary:
The Receptionist is responsible for responding to inquiries at
school site from staff, students, parents, the public, etc.;
providing requested information and/or referral to other parties;
directing visitors; and providing general clerical support to
school staff.
Essential Job
Functions:
Other duties may be assigned as needed
- Answer phones and respond
to emergency calls for the purpose of notifying appropriate
parties to address immediate safety and/or security issues
- Record student tardies and
absences into daily log and check attendance line for absence
calls
- Greet visitors (e.g.
public, parents, students, substitutes, vendors, etc.) for the
purpose of responding to their inquiries and/or directing them
to appropriate personnel in accordance with policies regarding
building security
- Distribute mail, supplies,
messages, keys, etc. for the purpose of disseminating materials
to appropriate parties
- Record messages left on the
nightly voicemail system and distribute accordingly
- Receives deliveries, mail,
supplies, messages, keys, etc. to disseminate to the
appropriate parties
- Screen inquiries of staff,
students, parents, the public, etc. (e.g. phone calls,
visitors, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action
and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution
- Perform record keeping and
clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, faxing, data
keying, filing, process field trip requests and order buses)
for the purpose of supporting the school
- Draft correspondence for
students, parents, and/or guardians
- Provide overflow
administrative support to school Directors
- Assist food service with
data entry or setup/breakdown when necessary
Skills and
Qualifications:

- Expertise in phone systems
and other office equipment including: copiers, fax, PC's,
scanners required
- Demonstrated expertise in
Excel, Word, Outlook and database software packages
required

- Ability to multi-task and
prioritize work activities
Education and/or Experience:
· Minimum of a
high school diploma required.
- 2 years of hands-on office
experience and/or school building experience required

Intercom, PA system
Physical
Demands/Requirements:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's
functions require the following physical demands: some lifting,
carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger
dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking,
and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and
healthy environment.
