REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Pre-K - 12
POSITION SUMMARY: We are currently seeking a creative, dynamic, innovative and motivated school leader to serve as Principal of Noah Webster MicroSociety Magnet School. As the administrative and academic leader of this dynamic learning environment, the Noah Webster MicroSociety Magnet School principal will provide oversight of the school’s educational program and personnel and must be committed to the highest expectations for students, staff and all members of the school community.
The successful applicant will be a champion of the MicroSociety theme. It is the mission of the school to guide students along the path by nurturing the unique heart, mind and body of each child, using a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies that address different learning styles. The school encourages students to strive to their fullest potential by meeting challenging academic standards in every content area through authentic learning experiences that address and solve real problems. The principal will enhance the theme and build upon the school’s foundation to bring it into the 21<sup>st</sup> century. The principal will facilitate active and regular participation of the entire Noah Webster community, support harmonious diversity, foster an entrepreneurial spirit and nurture a sense of pride in the Hartford community.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Familiarity with and commitment to the MicroSociety curriculum.

A minimum of five years of teaching experience at the appropriate secondary or elementary level.

Strong ability to foster and inspire collaboration among faculty and staff.

An advanced degree in education or related subject.

An understanding of, experience in, and commitment to the integration of technology into the curriculum and instruction to facilitate student learning.

Demonstrated strength in public speaking to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents and community members in a multi-cultural community.

Ability to work cooperatively with parents/community toward a common goal.

Demonstrated strengths in leadership, sound interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong knowledge of budget process analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
-
Demonstrated experience as a school administrator at the appropriate secondary or elementary level.

Knowledge of, and experience with, the needs and challenges of Magnet Schools.

Demonstrated working knowledge of Bilingual Education
-
Strong working knowledge of Special Education processes.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Connecticut Certification in Intermediate Administration/Supervision (#092)
SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary in accordance with Hartford Principals’ and Supervisors’ Association Group 1-3 ($113,930 - $129,695) 2012-2013
Twelve-month work year.
