The Academy
for Global Citizenship is seeking a part-time Curriculum and Instruction Coach for the remainder of the 2012-2013
school year. The Curriculum and Instruction Coach will serve as a consultant to
curriculum development and will provide on-going coaching support to teachers
in the areas of teaching through inquiry, differentiated instruction for ELLs
and students with special needs, mathematics best practice, and behavior
management.

Details:
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum and Instruction
o
Coordinate and carryout a weekly schedule of curriculum planning meetings with
teachers
o
Work with teachers and staff to ensure curriculum is aligned with Common Core
Learning Standards and is achieving school goals. Reviews current curriculum and recommends
changes based on performance data.
o
Assists in the creation of clear documentation of curriculum and unit planners
(Program of Inquiry)
o
Collaborate with the Special Education Teacher and Case Manager to ensure
teachers are appropriately differentiating instruction for students with
special needs
o
Collaborate with the Literacy Coach to ensure clear articulation is established
across literacy and the IB
Professional development and Coaching
o
Work with the Principal to identify professional development needs and
opportunities. Assist with the
development of a relevant and on-going professional development program based
on this input
o Develop and
manage a coaching/support system including the implementation of internal
walk-throughs. This system should also
place an emphasis on peer collaboration and feedback.
o Establish a weekly/bi-weekly coaching
schedule for individual teachers in grades K to 5 based on school and
individual teacher goals
o Model lessons and best practice for
teachers
o Lead professional development on an as-needed basis
Preferred Skills and Experience:
o
Biliterate in Spanish and English preferred
o 5+ years as an educator
o
Experience or familiarity with the IB Program
o
Experience or familiarity with dual language programs
o
Strong leadership skills and personal drive
o
Ability to implement programs to improve educational
achievement
o
Familiarity with various educational models
o Strategic planning experience
o An entrepreneurial spirit and a proven track record of
success
Education Requirements:
o
Master's degree in education
o Illinois State Teaching Certificate
o Illinois State Administrative Certificate preferred
Schedule and Compensation:
o
Compensation based on experience
o
Schedule is flexible,
approximately 5 to 15 hours per week
