PURPOSE:  To provide support in the operation, maintenance, and continuous modernization of all district technology systems (including work stations, iOs devices, and other school based technology equipment) in order to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the Glenview Public School District and promote a positive climate for the entire school community.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:  Reports to the Executive Director of Technology


LOCATION:   School buildings as assigned by supervisor.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead on-site operation and maintenance support efforts for all school mobile and desktop technology, including development of master images & operating processes.

    • Assist the Network Manager in assessing district technology needs and ongoing movement with best practice tools for educational technology.

    • Work collaboratively with the school Technology Facilitators, Coaches, and LRC directors as requested.

    • Provide OSX network support:

      • Configure servers, install new software and configure user accounts per guidelines.
      • Add / Move printers as necessary to provide user services.

    • Develop processes for remote management of user systems including:

      • Remote controls client/server selection and deployment, operation and maintenance.
      • Remote user help desk software selection and deployment, operation and maintenance.

      • Member of Digital Age Learning For All committee as requested.

    • Develop expert competencies on all district level software.  Provide timely recommendations on system upgrades.  Develop procedures for integrating technology tools throughout district practice
    • Support periodic training sessions for staff.
    • Perform system backups in coordination with the Network Manager.
    • Remove, replace and relocate equipment according to the District purchasing plan or as directed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:

    • BS/BA in computer science plus several years experience or an Associates Degree in a Technology or related field and several years experience maintaining and configuring desktop computer systems in a LAN environment

    • Proficiency in the installation and configuration of MAC and iOs systems

    • Proficiency in the installation, configuration and support of device applications
    • Mac OSX network server and client configuration preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of materials; to maneuver around, under, and behind furniture or equipment; and to reach high shelves or files.  It also requires good vision, hearing and speech for effective communication and use of computer.
