Zoo School Program Instructor

POSITION:

ZOO SCHOOL PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR
(Program is housed at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Powell)

REPORTS TO:

CAREER-TECHNICAL PROGRAMS SUPERVISOR

STARTING DATE:

2012-2013 School Year

SALARY:

Placement on the Teacher’s Salary Schedule per Negotiated Agreement

WORK SCHEDULE:

185-Day Contract

MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s Degree in Biological Science is required
• Ability to obtain a valid Ohio teacher’s license or certificate appropriate for the assignment
• Working knowledge of research-based instructional practices
• Minimum of 5 years experience in an environment related to research preferred
• Familiarity with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and their policies and procedures is preferred
• Knowledge of Good Lab Practice (GLP) regulation
• Knowledge of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
• Evidence of strong content knowledge and classroom management skills with high school students
• Successful teaching experience preferred
• Excellent communications skills
• Proficiency in office protocol and the use of information technology systems
• Ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction
• Ability to develop technology-based curriculum
• A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
• Compliance with drug-free workplace rules and board policies
• Proof of meeting all mandated health requirements
