QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's or doctoral degree required and license in mental
health (LPC, LP, LPA, LSSP, LMFT or LCSW) conferred
by the Texas State Board of
Licensed Professional Counselors,Texas State Board of Examiners
of Psychologists, Texas State Board of Marriage and Family
Therapists, and/or Texas State Board of Social Workers
(preferred)
- Six months experience in providing counseling and social
services to children and families
- Knowledge of and ability to use a wide array of accepted
theoretical approaches to improve students' academic
performance, social and emotional adjustment, and lifetime
success
- Knowledge and ability to utilize the family in the
accomplishment of treatment plan goals
- Ability to not only interact and communicate effectively
with clients and their families but also with the larger school
community of educators, administrators, counselors, and
healthcare professionals
- Ability to work cooperatively, collaboratively, and
effectively with center staff
- Ability to document precisely, completely, legibly and
promptly
- Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours in
order to accommodate parents' work and students' school
schedules
- Ability to provide own transportation
- Fluent in both English and Spanish preferred
BASIC FUNCTIONS
- Assess and diagnose students referred for
mental-health/behavioral health services
- Identify clients' and families' strengths as well as
potential barriers to treatment
- Assist, if necessary, in the collection of required
information for North Star enrollment of eligible students
- Provide referrals for services such as medical care,
educational intervention, psychiatric treatment, housing
assistance, etc. when needed.
- Complete and submit uniform assessments promptly for North
Star clients in order to ensure maximum reimbursement for
services
- Develop and implement treatment plans with families to
address students' needs
- Provide case management services, when necessary, in order
to increase referred students'/ families' engagement in
services
- Adhere to the accomplishment of student and family goals as
identified in treatment plans and documented in progress
notes
- Engage clients/families in effective intervention that
addresses the reasons for referral
- Provide on-going feedback to referring parties, involved
school personnel and clients
- Collaborate with the Psychological/Social Services
Department regarding classroom observations and school
interventions
- Guard client confidentiality by being knowledgeable of and
adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Document all sessions, contacts, attempted contacts,
consultations, and any work completed on behalf of the client
in the progress notes
- Review client charts regularly to ensure that treatment and
documentation is aligned with professional standards
- Complete service logs and paperwork required by the
department as directed
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, case conferences,
and group supervision with colleagues
- Seek and obtain consultation when unsure of a process or
issue that arises while working with clients/families
- Attend training that develops and improves professional
skills and competency
- Participate in the development, administration, and
collection of outcome and effectiveness measures
- Complete, document, and submit all discipline-specific
requirements for maintaining licensure
- Comply with departmental policies, legal requirements, and
professional, ethical, and quality of care standards
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Perform all other duties relating to the Title II grant at
100%
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
$32.50 - per hour
Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School
District positions will be placed according to compensation
guidelines.
A campus-based employee may not
assume a new position for which he/she was selected based
upon the posting process until the end of the current
semester, unless approved by the executive director - Human
Resources.
This position is
funded by the Title II grant.
Federally funded personnel must
comply with time and effort reporting requirements through
personnel activity reports or periodic certifications, as
appropriate.
