POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

 

The Copper River School District is announcing a position opening at the following school. 

 

POSITION:                            Vocational Education/Construction Trades-Woodworking-Welding

DURATION:                          2012-2013 School Year

LOCATION:                          Glennallen Junior Senior High School

SALARY:                               Dependent on Placement on Salary Schedule

 

JOB NARRATIVE

·         Type A Alaska teaching certificate with a voc-ed endorsement required.

·         Teach  students’ basic knowledge of principles, concepts, and skills in construction trades, beginning to advanced woodworking, welding, automotive tech, and small engines.

·         Instill in each student safe working habits, the importance of continuation of his or her education, and the significance of reliability, competence, loyalty, and dependability in the workplace.

·         Teach occupational skills and knowledge required for each student to demonstrate competence sought by employers.

·         Welding certification or ability to receive welding certification.

·         Teach students cititzenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in district curriculum.

·         Develop lesson plans and organize class time so that preparation, instruction, shop work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.

·         Demonstrate required occupational skills using approriate materials, equipment, tools, processes, models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids.

·         Instruct students in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools, machinery, and equipment.

·         Maintain school district vehicles

·         Control storage, maintenance and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse.

·         Establish and maintain standards of student conduct necessary to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom with many potential hazards.

·         Maintain contacts with the business community to keep informed of new innovations and job requirements which must be reflected in the curriculum in order to develop marketable skills as required by prospective employers.

·         Sponsor after school student extracurricular activities.

·         Be a teamplayer who is supportive of national, state, district, and school reform and accountability laws, regulations, and policies.

·         Other duties as assigned.
