  Assistant Principal - Shishmaref
BSSD - Alaska's Most Progressive School District

Bering Strait School District is accepting applications for an Assistant Principal for the Shishmaref School for the 2012-13 school year. We are beginning to do interviews by video conference and other means.

BSSD is a standards-based district, and requires progressive, flexible administrators who are supportive of data-driven instruction, a Response to Intervention (Rti) approach to school improvement, and who can become instructional leaders, not just school managers.

Being comfortable using technology to track student progress, and to prepare documentation would be a significant advantage. Administrators in our district are required to use a wide range of technology tools, and each is issued a laptop that becomes quite important to their daily work.

BSSD utilizes a comprehensive web database for tracking student progress called DART, technology is used by teachers and administrators for many day-to-day planning and documentation tasks. The district has an employee purchase program for computers, and an excellent technology infrastructure. All classrooms are wirelessly connected to the Internet.

Our district offers very competitive salaries, many strong opportunities for staff development, and an innovative professional climate. When it comes to unique living and work experiences, we have some of the best. Check our website for details about our district, as well as video clips of our villages, and even a forum for posting questions.

A BSSD overview video of this village school and community is available on our website:
