BILINGUAL PARAPROFESSIONALS

Emphasis in Spanish language instructional support

Starting 2012-2013 School Year

Two (2) Positions

La Academia Dual Language Immersion (located at Kindergarten Center)

6.5 hrs/day - Student Contact Days

Monday through Friday

9:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.

Fluency in English with high proficiency levels in oral and written Spanish 

Tier 4 - $14.96 per hour

 

 

Position Start Date:  August 2012

 

Banded/Graded:  A-1-4

 

Responsible To:  Building Principal/Classroom Teacher

 

Position Purpose:  To provide assistance to students and teachers in a classroom setting under the direction of licensed staff.

Benefits of Employment as of July 1, 2010:  Eligible for benefits as negotiated between Student Support Staff (MSEA Association) and District 112.  This position is eligible for overtime and comp time.

-          Experience working with school age children

-          Evidence of an understanding of the school culture and environment, and a commitment to carrying out the vision, mission and belief statements of District 112

 

Translation and Interpretation

 

-          Written translation of informal documents from one language to another

-          Assist with parent contacts including some level of documentation

-          Participation in student planning meetings when necessary

-          Oral interpretation of written material where needed

 

 

-          Fluency in both English and a second language as demonstrated by proficiency assessment

-          Accuracy
