The purpose of a teacher's job is to provide students with the
opportunity to learn to read, write, problem solve, compute,
locate and use information, think analytically, work
cooperatively with others, and to meet all district-required
curriculum objectives.

Essential Functions:
1.
Plans and implements a program of study that meets individual
needs, interests, and abilities within the Sweetwater County
School District Number One curriculum.
2.
Implements curriculum objectives and goals using effective
teaching techniques and materials.
3.
Develops, in a cooperative manner with the principal and
curriculum facilitators, a plan for the improvement and
enrichment of instruction,
in accordance with the District's Instructional Platform.
4.
Writes weekly lesson plans which describe daily learning
experiences which are related to curriculum objectives.
5.
Monitors and assesses student progress and provides feedback on a
regular basis to students and parents/guardians, in accordance
with the District's Comprehensive Assessment Plan.
6.
Instructs, Diagnoses and evaluates specific students' needs and
seeks assistance of specialists as needed.
7.
Communicates aims/objectives to students in a well-planned,
organized manner in clear, concise terms.
8.
Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and
appropriate to the maturity of the students.
9.
Assists administration in implementing all policies, vision,
mission, philosophy, regulations, and rules of Sweetwater County
School District Number One.
10.
Creates educational experiences to provide students with
opportunities to develop potential in self-esteem,
personal-social adjustment, decision-making, and other life
skills.
11.
Respects the dignity of each student as an individual and
attempts to gain an adequate understanding of his/her needs,
interests, abilities, aptitudes, temperament as a basis on which
to meet his/her needs, and to treat him/her with fairness and
courtesy.

Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, parents,

of students in the classroom, on school property, or in

administrative regulation.

materials, and facilities.

Maintains and uses equipment in a safe and orderly manner.

Instructs all students in the safe operation of all equipment and
watches that students use the equipment in a correct and safe
manner.
21.
Conducts oneself in a professional manner.
22.
Seeks to establish friendly and cooperative relationships between
the home and the school.
23.
Provides parents with information that will serve the best
interests of their children and is discreet with information
received from parents.

all fitness/health areas with specific ability to perform each of
the physical activities taught.

Possess knowledge of physiological, emotional and educational
behavioral development of children.
Possess appropriate classroom
management skills which includes discipline, record keeping and
assessment
abilities.

Possess swimming abilities.
Possess first aid and CPR skills.
Specific Qualifications
Elementary and Middle
School/Jr. High
Must have a thorough understanding of the growth and
developmental characteristics of students at each age and grade
level.
Must have the ability to develop and incorporate strategies to
accommodate individual differences within the class setting.
Must be able to demonstrate the activities that are required to
be taught by the Curriculum Guide established by Physical
Educators for Sweetwater County School District #1.
High School
Must encourage maximum student participation at all time.
Must possess the knowledge and skill to help students develop
their own lifetime fitness programs.
Should be able to teach the concepts of both individual and team
activities.
If teaching swimming unit which lasts for an entire semester,
should be a Certified Water Safety Instructor.
Should be able to teach the various life saving techniques and
swimming strokes.
Education, License,
Certification or Formal Training
Possess all certificates required by the State of Wyoming.
Must have at least a Bachelor's Degree with a Major or Minor in
Physical Education/Health.
Shall continue to pursue classes which will promote professional
growth.
Physical Demands:
Be able to stand, walk, and sit for long periods without fatigue
or discomfort.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry a distance of 100
feet.
Be able to carry up to 25 pounds for a distance of 1,000
feet.
Environmental Demands:
Be able to spend most of the time
inside classrooms with some work outside in cold/hot weather. Be
able to tolerate noise up to 90 decibels.
