JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Construction Management while supporting the facilitation and implementation of construction projects within the AISD Construction Management Department.  Incumbent provides instruction and technical supervision to staff on non-routine and policy matters, especially in areas where there are significant problems.  
  
Essential Functions: 
*Establish operating responsibilities among construction program staff and consultants for optimal workflow and problem resolution.  Convene work groups for special problems, training and other activities as needed. 
*Provide management resource and support to senior project managers, and project managers engaged in the construction program. 
*Participate in RFQ and RFP processes for professional and construction services respectively. 
*Attend and participate in meetings with directors, project managers and other administrative personnel to address issues as they relate to department including planning and coordination with other departments and within department areas.  
*Provide direction regarding the development and implementation of the District's Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) System. 
*Evaluate and appraise work of staff.  Provide formal and informal feedback in written and oral form regarding strengths and weaknesses, as well as ways to improve weak areas. 
*Continually review department for identification and development of improvements, particularly regarding the construction program.  
*Review department for compliance with District, State and Federal rules and regulations.  
*Determine staff training needs; arrange or establish programs and participate in those programs.  Provide guidance programs through group and individual meetings.  
*Provide counseling on professional development matters and individual problems.  Monitor, and assist as necessary, in the development of problem resolution methods.  
*Participate in interview process as appropriate.  Assist in the establishment of methods for employee development and/or career advancement. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  
Education:  A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Master's degree is preferred. A license to practice architecture or engineering in the State of Texas is required.
  
Experience:  Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in Architecture, Civil or Architectural Engineering, or Construction Science is required. 
  
Knowledge & Skills: 
*Thorough knowledge of buildings and grounds maintenance and facility management procedures and techniques, as well as prior experience or licensing in asbestos/lead abatement and/or environmental pest control. 
*Ability to manage time and resources effectively and efficiently.  
*Creativity and adaptive thinking to match programs and objectives is required. 
*Skill in the use of personal computers and their software.  
*Proficient in Microsoft Office and in other computerized applications.  

DUTY DAYS:  260 Days 
  
SALARY:  CP9:  $75,000 - $88,000
               Salary determination will be based on documented experience.
